Summer 2015 will be my 11th Summer working with the School-Agers at LVA. I have had the privilege of watching many, many children go through our program and develop lifelong friendships. It truly amazing me how some of our campers can go through the entire school year without seeing each other and then come back to us in the summer and act as if they have never been apart. Super Sleuths to the rescue! We started our wwek out using our detective skills looking at footprints, handwriting, and bite marks. Ms. Kristin said we did such an awesome job using our skills that she baked us a special Thursday treat; a pan of brownies. Come to find out, someone had stolen the brownies and left a piece with a bite taken out of it, footprints and a note. We were determined to find out who stole our brownies so we went on a hunt to find the brownie robber. We looked for clues...

Tuesday we did carnival games. We played at least 5 different games. One of our activities was face painting! We were looking pretty crazy. Wednesday we played in the water! We played a game with ice cubes and another one with cups with holes in them. Thursday we had guest speakers from the recycling center and the water and soil conservation. This week was Exercise and Fitness week. Monday we talked about food groups and different foods you can find in each group. Tuesday we started the day with a "Kids Fitness" video. We also talked about nutrition labels. We played a game to help us with reading nutrition facts. Wednesday we did step aerobics and talked about our favorite foods. "Capture the Flag and Dodge Ball are my favorite activities we did last summer!" 7 year old boy
"The field trips into town and having water days at the park were a ton of fun!" 6 year old girl
